Collectors Alert

Monday, December 15th, 2008

True or False?   Book collectors only collect books!  I know some who collect coasters (from bars) and two who quilt and collect quilts and another who has a house full of Blue ware and Americana and another (me) who collects African and Oceanic art and some other things. Just in case one of you coming to the BIG Island in March 2009 collects old bottles (all types), let me introduce you to Dave’s “Glass From The Past”, a wonderful bottle store, filled with old bottles—many from Hawaii. It is located about 15 miles north of Hilo (other side of the Island), in the town of Honomu, off of highway 19, near Akaka Falls. Phone number, to make sure that Dave is there, is 808 963 6449. Let me know if you plan to go and if I can sneak away, I might join you. Happy collecting and just in case you also collect books, let me tell you about some great old book stores…

Read a Book by One of Our Guests of Honor Compliments of LCC 2009

Friday, December 5th, 2008

For an opportunity to read a book by one of our Guests of Honor and participate in an intimate Book Group at Left Coast Crime 2009 (LCC 2009), you can now select a free book.

Rhys Bowen, Barry Eisler and Lee Goldberg have each contributed at least 10 copies of a book for the Book Groups to be scheduled during the Program at LCC 2009. The following titles are available:

In Like Flynn, a Molly Murphy Mystery by Rhys Bowen

Rain Storm, a John Rain Mystery by Barry Eisler

The Death Merchant, a Diagnosis Murder Mystery by Lee Goldberg

We are hoping Attendees will read a book in advance of LCC 2009 and participate in the scheduled Book Groups during March 7-12.  The first people who send an e-mail message to wggmd@gottfried.org

with their first and second choices and their postal mailing address, will receive a free copy of their book selection. We will send books until our supply is exhausted and notify those whose request arrived too late.

There will be experienced Moderators to lead the discussion and the Guests of Honor will answer questions at the end of the discussion. Guests of Honor will be available during the Conference to talk with readers and answer questions at that time as well.
